Federal health officials say a new version of the painkiller OxyContin that is designed to be harder to abuse offers some improvements over the original pill.
Purdue Pharma equals convicted felons. I wouldn't buy a used car from them. It will be interesting to see if the FDA also realizes "a little too late" and doesn't buy the used car from them either. Purdue Pharma has had a patent to make OxyContin tamper resistent for years. Why now after so many deaths and addictions do they decide to make the drug tamper resistent? Sewer rats are on a higher level than Purdue Pharma.
The rampant paranoia over pain medicine in America continues. Why? I have no clue. This compulsion to control behavior has long ago gotten out of control. If you want to do some real good start a war on the 17 million alcohol addicts in America that kills 1000 people a month on the roads alone. where is the outrage?
If they are really an addict and they really want their fix, they will figure out how to get it. Either that, or they'll turn to heroin — a cheaper and better high.Painkillers are by nature addictive. They are opiates for Christs sake. Unless we think of an alternate chemical to kill pain we will always have addiction to them.
